Made these cute booties for part of a baby gift for a special friend. At Nine 0'clock last night I decided that I needed something more to add to the gift. Found this pattern on http://www.raverly.com and started knitting the first one around ten, finished after midnight and started the second. Picked up this morning and was done in about two hours. They were easy and quick to knit up. Here is a link to the free pattern: http://www.saartjeknits.nl/archives/2007/05/
The yarn is a wool of unknown origins. I think I picked it up at the Michigan Fiber Festival.
Thank you Saartje for such a great pattern!

Shopping with Rosie O'Donnell on Etsy!
Participated in a virtual lab with Rosie O'Donnell on Etsy today. She has a Etsy store where she sells her crafts with the proceeds going to Rosie's Broadway Kids.
Dress, Continued
The dress is finally starting to look like something. This has been a great pattern so far. The dress is just as beautiful on the inside. Here is a link to the pattern: http://www.butterick.com/item/B5319.htm?tab=whats_new&page=

Sewing
The dress is coming along. No real problems except for the sleeves. Had to pull out stitches quite a few times before getting it right. The bamboo fabric is sewing rather nicely. Although I should have bought some 100% cotton thread instead of using a cotton/poly blend. Keeping with the eco-friendly fabrics that I am using.
I am learning that sewing is a slow process. Taking time to understand what the pattern really means.

Ice Boating on Reeds Lake
Ice boating. Sounds funny. Cold. Windy. I got to spend the day with my Dad trying to ice boat on Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was a perfect sunny, cloudless day that people in Michigan just love and rarely get. Unfortunately, this perfect day was bad for ice boating. No wind.

Dress
Decided not to mess with stripes, so I will be saving that beautiful fabric for a future project.
I spent some time at Field's Fabrics this morning and found a beautiful smoky blue-gray/cornflower color of Eco-Bamboo fabric. I couldn't decide on the fabric for the midriff so I bought an Amy Butler flower print and some of the same Eco-Bamboo in a taupe/sage color. The white is a cotton that will be used for the lining.
